Nature and family fun right beside Verbier
La Tzoumaz, formerly known as “les Mayens-de-Riddes”, takes its name from the verb “tzoumer” which, in local dialect, means to take a break. Situated on the north-facing slopes of Verbier, this sunny resort overlooks the Rhone valley.
In Winter
La Tzoumaz is the gateway to the largest ski area entirely situated in Switzerland: the Verbier 4Vallées area. The wide slopes are particularly suited to families and beginners, but there is plenty of choice for more experienced skiers as well.
Wonderful red runs as well as a marked and secured freeride route in the Vallon d’Arbi provide plenty of opportunities for skiers and freeriders to enjoy their favourite sport. The toboggan run, with a 700-m drop in altitude, is a must for the whole family. You’ll have a whale of a time!
During the winter, there is also a natural ice rink and a heated swimming pool.
In Summer
During the summer, there is plenty for you to enjoy as well, such as mountain biking, hiking and activities for children. The Verbier-La Tzoumaz bikepark has 8 tracks for all levels of skill. You can drive from La Tzoumaz to Verbier and back again very easily if you go over the Croix-de-Cœur pass.
In La Tzoumaz, learn all about local wildlife in the Maison de la forêt. From there, you can set off along the Sentier des Sens (senses trail) and discover nature with a special quiz (Quiz des 5 sens), using all five of your senses. Hikers can also discover the bisses, in particular the Saxon one. These man-made irrigation channels have been used in Valais since the Middle Ages to carry water from high up in the mountains to the pastures and orchards below.
VIP Pass
If you stay at the T-Resort during the summer (between 1 June and 31 October), you will receive the Verbier Infinite Playground (VIP) Pass. It will allow you to take part in over 100 different activities in the Val de Bagnes, free of charge or at a reduced rate.
